UPDATE (1-22-2024): Santa Monica Airport Commission passes motion and recommendation to Santa Monica City Council regarding SMO Closure Planning (link forthcoming).
UPDATE (12-20-2023): Santa Monica takes key step forward in the future of its airport (see link).
UPDATE (12-19-2023): The Local Community Statement was submitted to Santa Monica City Council with over 360 additional personal comments (see link).
UPDATE (12-12-2023): Santa Monica Airport Commission passes motion and recommendation to Santa Monica City Council regarding Future of Santa Monica Airport (see link).
NOVEMBER 2023: On December 19, 2023 City Council is scheduled to make consequential decisions on the Airport to Park Conversion Project. City Staff is recommending Sasaki Associates to begin and lead the project work. The work will be the basis for a subsequent Specific Plan for the land. Below is our Community Statement for the this meeting. We are collecting additional personal comments from the community to share with City Council. Please help support the community and add your personal comments. Thank you for supporting our collective efforts to transform the airport into public parkland!
